Product Details

The oak tree is highly esteemed for its strength and longevity. Many different species exist around the world, with surprisingly different leaves and acorns. The most iconic, however, is probably the English Oak in Glastonbury, famous for surviving since the time of the Druids. The leaves and acorns of the oak are distinctive, worked here in a feltable sport yarn.

The Oakleaf & Acorn Cowl achieves a repoussé effect with the use of cables and short rows. Optional felting with a feltable wool yarn allows wind resistance but is fairly light when worked in a sport yarn. It can be knit to fit snugly on the neck or longer to fit loosely. Depending on the chosen felting yarn, the cowl can be felted or fulled for more or less wind resistance.

Oak leaf and acorn motifs have both written and charted instructions that feed back into each other to achieve the required length. In addition, instructions for felting and i-cord edgings are included in this 18 page pattern.
