Product Details

My inspiration for this design came from my love of Harry Potter. One of my favourite scenes is when Harry goes shopping for his very first wand. He walks into Mr Ollivander's shop in search of this special item. After a few unsuccessful attempts he finds his wand, and inside it is the tail feather of a phoenix.

The colours I used for this shawl remind me of a phoenix, and the border of the shawl is designed to reflect the ladder that Mr Ollivander uses in his shop.

I used a mathematical sequence called the Fibonacci sequence to create the striped pattern, which seemed a hugely wizard like thing to do.

This is an asymmetrical shawl, and is knit from one point to the other with increases and decreases creating the sweeping shape.

The pattern photos were taken at the railway station that was used in the film to portray Hogsmeade station - the start of Harry's epic adventure !

This is a fun, relaxed and highly addictive knit and I really hope you enjoy it !
