Product Details

A scarf that is thick but also soft and easy to wear, one that is relaxing and fast to make; one that even a picky recipient will embrace. Paving Stone attempts this, knit quickly from bulky wool; it uses a daisy stitch to add depth and interest without being too flashy. It is built from a simple, repeating pattern that creates diagonal lines reminiscent of the paving stones of the West Village here in New York City.

Stitch pattern is double sided with diagonal ridges on the front and rows of seed-like stitches on the back.

Cascade 128 is a wonderful bulky yarn to use (3 skeins are needed for a 60 inch scarf, or 4 skeins for an 80 inch scarf), but anything soft will do.

Knit flat on 6mm needles.

This pattern was born from one too many emergency requests for a scarf or last minute gift. Its fun to knit but also moves quickly enough that you can finish it off in a day or two. It is also flexible and can easily be knit wider/thinner, longer/shorter.
