Product Details
Peronel is a relatively small scarf which starts as an elongated triangle in a simple lace pattern, then is transformed into an elegant crescent by the more challenging border.
Working up quickly and economically in 350-400m of worsted-weight yarn, it is a beautifully wearable shape for any time of year and makes an ideal gift. The main body of the shawl is quite simple, while the border has elements such as embossing, twisted stitches and Estonian gathered stitches, to keep more experienced knitters interested.
Gauge and size:
15 sts and 18 rows per 10cm gives a lightly blocked shawl that measures 160cm tip to tip and 60cm neck to hem at centre. To make a slightly larger shawl, adjust gauge by using a larger needle and/or heavier yarn. You can also make a much larger version by repeating rows 47-83 (repeating these rows adds 4 extra border repeats, approx 20cm to depth neck-to-hem and approx 60cm to length tip-to-tip).
