Product Details
This tie is worked in alternating bands of moss stitch and stocking (stockinette) stitch giving a lovely textured finish. This is particularly effective if knitted in silk where the contrast between the smoothness of stocking stitch and the raised texture of moss stitch is particularly pronounced.
The tie is worked flat in one piece, folded and seamed along its length and the open edges closed by grafting or fake grafting. Full instructions with diagrams are given.
The original tie was worked in Jaeger Pure Silk DK, 100% silk, 8ply, 125m (137 yds) per 50g ball which is no longer available, but *Laines du Nord *Mulberry Silk DK or *Rowan *Truesilk DK might be possible substitutes or try www.yarnsub.com for other suggestions.
The pattern for this tie, together with patterns for one other tie and two belts, was originally published in Knitting Magazine" as part of a two part article called "Gathering Moss".
