Product Details

Botanical name: Dillwynia hispida

My kids love these flowers, they call them Bacon and Egg flowers. They can be found on small shrubs with thin linear leaves, and flower in Winter and Spring in Western Victoria.

Construction: The flowers are created from five petals, knit separately and then seamed together. The flower centres are then either embroidered or duplicate stitched on. The flower heads are then attached to lengths of i-cord with the small linear leaves made from short lengths of felted yarn.

Skill Level: Intermediate

This pattern was originally released as part of WARM: a large-scale collaborative knitting project that explored why the earth is warming and what we can do to make a positive change.

Knitters of all skill levels contributed to this large-scale piece that was exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ballarat in September 2016. It now has a permanent home in the Geelong Wool Museum.
