My Great-Grandmother Zoe celebrated her wedding at her parents’ homestead “Rilsdale” in Pahiatua, New Zealand in the spring of 1914. She wore a gown of ivory crepe de chine veiled with lace, her train trimmed with orange blossoms and pearls. By all accounts Zoe was a strong woman, reportedly the first woman to ride astride in the Wairarapa and her wedding was a very a splendid affair.
Rilsdale takes a leaf from Zoe’s book.
