I had the opportunity to work with Eden Cottage Yarns for this design. Their Keld Fingering is a linen-blend yarn that is rustic yet smooth and has been dyed in some beautiful and subtle colors.
I decided to make a shawl with huge garter sections that are lined with tiny bobble stripes. Somehow, the yarn’s texture, colors and these stitch choices turned into a comforting joyous recipe for me at that time in my life. As I watched the bobbles being formed one by one, they looked like a bed of tiny roses to me. Hence the name. :)
Rose Bed Shawl is a 2-color shawl worked from the top-down, with its body worked mainly in garter stitch short row wedges. The wedges get stacked slowly, giving the shawl a pleasing crescent shape. Eyelets and bobbles help break the monotony of garter and also highlight the wedges beautifully. A simple mesh border finishes off the shawl into a light and drapey accessory for your wardrobe.
