Product Details
I have always loved the way the cast-on edge of lace patterns highlights the undulations of the pattern. This shawlette, or shoulder shawl, begins with a lace border pattern, and is worked from the bottom up. Once the stitches are reduced for the main body portion, the shaping of the shawl is controlled by incorporating an i-cord bind off to stitches at either end of the shawl. As the shawl takes shape, the rows get shorter & shorter, until only the central motif is left on the needles. Schaefer Anne is a great choice for this pattern; the combination of stunning colors and the drape of this crescent shaped shawl provides a beautiful, light weight wrap for cool evenings. Design Note: The first three rows of this shawl are knitted in reverse stockinette, followed by a purl transition row prior to beginning the lace patterning. This makes a slightly rolled edge that will coordinate with the I-cord at the top:o)
