Product Details

The brief for this cardigan was warmer, but not too visually dissimilar from a shop bought cardi. But as shop bought knits are mostly cut and seamed, which is not how I like to work, I used this as an exercise in simple techniques for clean edges in stockinette working only with live stitches, There is no sewing or picking up stitches. I also made sure to create edges to the knitting that are tough to resist fraying and wear.

Although created as a school uniform cardigan this can of course also be knitted as a plain cardigan for home use as the beautiful, vibrant, samples by my testers show.

Yarn choices I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino for my red sample. I also used a tiny bit of fingering weight to create a detail on the inside of the cuff. This is optional. The yellow sample is in the Bergere de France yarn.
