Product Details
The Single Jig Mittens are the third pattern in my series All the Jigs and Reels.
The single jig is either the third or fourth dance learned, depending on the Irish dance school or teacher. Like the light reel and light jig, it is done in softshoes (aka ghillies; gill-eez). The time signature is 6/8 but the emphasis is a bit different; if you hum “Pop, Goes the Weasel” that’s the rhythm of a single jig.
The Single Jig Mittens are knit in worsted weight yarn and from cuff to tip, featuring an extra long cabled cuff. I have included both written and charted instructions.
