Strings of Love

This lacy baktus is a sweet challenge for experienced knitters. It'll keep your head busy as well as your hands, but the result is more than worth the effort. It's the perfect accessory for springtime or for breezy summer evenings.
To make the pattern show its beauty, use yarn that's monocolour or has long colour changes. Very close shades of the same colour might work too.
This is a shawlette with a story. Designed for my own daughter, it has become an inspiration for mothers and daughters everywhere. The pattern on the straight edge symbolizes our tender and strong connection in the first years of her life, the more open lacy string in the middle shows how the bond loosens but never breaks as she's growing up, and the right side row of diamonds and hearts is what I hope our relationship is going to be like when she's a grown-up and I'm an old lady: precious and loving. On the very right edge a little piece of he first string appears again: of course I hope to be a grandma one day :)
