Product Details

This hat celebrates the 200-year anniversary of the Sumburgh Lighthouse. It bears all the colours of the lighthouse and its environs: the green of grassy banks and lighthouse doors, the fresh lime of moss on the walls, the grey of drystone dykes, the dark blue of the surrounding sea, and the gleaming yellows from the light itself, which steadfastly warns ships off the rocky headland at the southern tip of mainland Shetland. The crown incorporates the eight points of the compass, and repeated diamonds echo the diamond-shaped panes of glass in the lantern room.

To shorten the length by a couple of inches miss out chart D. Brim can be made tighter by casting on less stitches (must be an even number) as long as you increase to 150sts before you start chart B.

This Fair Isle Hat is knitted in 7 colours of Jamiesons of Shetland Spindrift but changes can easily be made to colour choices and placement with less colours. 1x25g ball is used for each colour.
