Product Details

Do you have 2 specials skeins of fingering weight yarn that need to be knit together? I did. I wanted to knit a lovely shawl that would showcase the beautiful speckles and tonal nature of a hand-dyed yarn. Thus, Sunrise Bay was born.

Sunrise Bay, named for pink and purple streaks of dawn shining on a Caribbean inlet, is all you could want in a lightweight shawl. It’s got loads of garter stitch, interspersed with interesting bits of texture and eyelets. And it’s all wrapped up with a gorgeous bit of simple lace that makes the whole thing simply stunning. It’s a treat to knit and to wear!

Yarn: 320 yds/292 m of MC & 192 yds/175 m of CC in fingering weight

Note: Lace and textured stitches occur in the CC section of the shawl, so I recommend using your solid color as the CC and any speckled or striped yarn as the MC.

Techniques to Indulge In: Garter stitch, YO increases, Stripes, Textured garter stitch, Slipped stitches, Eyelets, Simple lace
