This a great pattern for a novice to learn to knit cables. There is only one "proper" cable with the rest being eyelet-rib mock cables and therefore much easier than it looks. A good intermediate knitter could make this quick gift in an evening. Easy-to-follow instructions are given so that you can make the cozy to fit the mug of your choice, or you can make the average size specified in the pattern. Any 4ply yarn with good stitch definition will work. A solid or semi-solid shade will show your beautifully created textures off best.
