There are 2 main stitches and both are single crochets. So, the first is the main stitch which is the "back loop single crochet stitch", you'll be using this stitch for the entire handbag. And the second stitch is used optionally, which is the classic "single crochet stitch", this stitch is used for the shoulder handle in case you decide to make the handle with crochet instead of purchasing a leather handle.
