This lace top was inspired by its namesake, the dyer behind Bay Street Yarns: Anne Jensen! She is such a fun, creative and talented woman. I think this knit captures her spirit and shows off her incredible dyeing expertise! This top is designed to be knit up holding two strands of fingering held together, or knitting regularly with one strand---depending on your preference when it comes to color blending! If you’re holding single, begin to stripe in your next color when you see the color changes approaching in the pattern. Your first 41 rounds will be spent creating a lace yoke that mimics colorwork! Instead of a contrast color creating a pattern, you’re creating a design simply using yo’s. My hope was to create a fresh take on yoke-based, top-down knitting. I hope you enjoy this challenging project! Make sure to check out Anne’s work over at Bay Street Yarns, and support your local indie dyers and LYS!
