13-15-17 stitch markers (depending on your size)
Gauge:
US 3 (3 mm) needle - 17 stitches x 24 rows = 4 x 4 inches square in stockinette.
US 6 (4 mm) needle - 16 stitches x 22 rows = 4 x 4 inches square in stockinette.
