About the Design: This is a quick and easy-to-knit garter stitch bath mat, edged in I-cord. I love how I-cord finishes edges. I used Hoooked Ribbon XL and Zpagetti t-shirt yarns, although you can substitute your own handmade t-shirt yarn, if you have enough t-shirts on hand to recycle, which we never seem to have enough of! I’ve included notes on sizing (with instructions on the 2 sizes I made). What I love about these mats – they have heft, so they stay put, and the garter stitch fabric is cushiony under foot. I am liking these mats so much, I may knit a larger one, to stand on, at the kitchen sink!
The small mat weighs 23.5 ozs. Approx. 207 g A and 460 g B were used.
The medium mat weighs 36.5 ozs. Approx. 750 g A, 210 g B, and 91 g C were used. Only 13 g (.45 oz) A rem.
Gauge: 12 sts and 24 rows (12 ridges) = 5” (12.7 cm) in Garter Stitch, using size 13 ndls, or size to achieve gauge. To save time, take time to check gauge.
Happy Knitting! Dawn

- Notes
- You can use straight ndls, however, t- shirt yarn is heavy. Using a ckn will put the weight into the lap, causing less strain to wrists and arms.
