Product Details

Named for a species of clematis, this shoulder shawl knits up quickly in a worsted weight yarn. Increases on every row give a highly wearable shape, with extra long points and a slight crescent curve. Reverse stockinette, delicate cabled vines and 3-dimensional leaves give lots of texture to the body of the scarf without adding bulk, while a deep border of flowers and simple lace give an airy feel.

Difficulty: intermediate or adventurous beginner, as it involves both lace and cable stitches, as well as multiple increases for inset leaves and sepals. The main body is simple but requires some concentration as it is not a straightforward repeat.

Materials: Approx 450m of worsted-weight wool yarn 5mm (UK 6, US 8) circular or long straight needles Darning needle for weaving in ends (optional) cable needle

Gauge: A gauge of 15 sts/20 rows per 10cm gives a blocked shawl of approx 150cm tip-to-tip. The scarf can be resized by adjusting gauge.
