Product Details
I love wearing big, warm shawls during the chilly season. They keep you cozy and as a bonus, they look good and really make the outfit. This shawl is worked from top down, beginning with a Garter tab cast-on. Slip stitch pattern makes a nice texture and ribbed edging adds a comfy look. This shawl is named after Viljandi, one of my favorite towns in Estonia.
YARN: The sample is worked in Lanitium ex Machina Merino Silk Twist (400 yds / 365 m per 100 g skein; 80 % merino wool, 20 % silk). If you wish to substitute yarn, you can use any Fingering weight yarn, approximately: 550 yds / 503 m MC (main color), 150 yds / 137 m CC1 (contrasting color 1) and 170 yds / 156 m CC2 (contrasting color 2)
NEEDLES & NOTIONS: size 6 US / 4 mm circular needle, row counter, tapestry needle to weave in the ends.
GAUGE: 18.5 sts and 44 rows in Garter stitch after blocking = 4” / 10 cm. Gauge is not crucial for this project but will affect the amount of yarn used and the final size of the shawl.
