Product Details

The inspiration for this blanket was a lovely stained glass window that set two similar colors against each other in a nested frame pattern. The symmetry and simplicity appealed to my inner knitter and outer mom. How refreshing to have a blanket that is not based on a stitch pattern, but rather a strong graphical idea!

While the instructions may seem long and complicated, the blanket is actually quite simple once you get going. You may want to refer to the schematic on page three before starting to see how the knit and purl sections are laid out. Each frame is 15 stitches wide and 30 rows deep; even rows could be written with the enigmatic “knit the knit stitches and purl the purls” between the seed stitch border.

There is no “right side” to this blanket: the photos and schematic show even rows “up”.

Note that this blanket is worked from one end to the other, not from the center out (in the round) or in sections that are then attached together.
