Wizard in a Blizzard.
An Extremely Cool Hat by Lisa McFetridge My daughter saw a runner wearing a stocking cap one day. She thought she would like a stocking cap too, but it had to be much cooler. Like a Wizard Hat. So stars on a night sky background seemed to fit the bill. It tilts to one side or the other, but not back or forward. We had a Blizzard this weekend and since it rhymed with Wizard and that is when I knit it, well, you can guess the rest...
Knit in a light worsted weight wool (Cascade 220 or Knit Picks Wool of the Andes or Swish would all work well) in three sizes (Small Child, Child, Adult) with a very tiny rolled edge leading into corrugated ribbing. Randomly changing the colors in the stars gives a really pretty star field with lots of depth. If desired a yellow/orange/gold self-striping or variegated yarn can be substituted for CC1, CC2, and CC3. Be sure to add up the yardage for the 3 colors if doing so.
