Product Details
Yule is a recreation of a twentieth century sweater in the Shetland Museum archive and was recreated as part of The Vintage Shetland Project. It has a fabulous all-over colourwork pattern created with a multitude of Shetland motifs. The original sweater was knitted by Shetlander, Katie Anderson, in the early 1940s for her nephew, Bob Yule.
Yule is knitted in the round, bottom up. Once the armholes are reached, steeks are added to continue working in the round. The sweater has slightly dropped shoulders for a relaxed fit. The shoulder seams are grafted together and finally a 1x1 ribbed turtle neck is worked.
The pattern includes sizes to fit from 32-58 inch (81-147cm) chest.
The sample is shown in the photographs on two models with the male model illustrating the true vintage fit of the garment. To lengthen the sweater for a more contemporary fit, extra pattern repeats can be worked on the body and sleeves as required.
Suggested ease: appproximately 3-9cm (1.25 - 3.5in) of positive ease.
