I just loved this pattern as soon as I saw it...and everyone else seems to as well. Just beware of the sizing - Hattie is only 3, and slim, but I knitted the 24" chest size which is said to be for age 5-6 years - it fits her perfectly. I chose her favourite colours, purple and pink, in Paintbox yarns as the colours are so vibrant and gorgeous. I have to admit to a preference for wool over acrylic, but I thought the Paintbox yarns would be easy care, and I was not disappointed as they feel soft and pleasant to knit with. Added bonus - very little seaming as it's a top down knitted, all in one garment. Nevertheless, the shaping means it drapes well and fits beautifully. It was great fun to knit, if a little challenging in parts, just because I needed to concentrate to keep the stitch pattern correct with the shaping! If you've got a lovely little girl to knit for, I can recommend this one.

Like you, I’ve been knitting for years (and years!), but I got confused over what is quite a basic stitch. I think if you rewrite the pattern more clearly it might help you to get the pattern set correctly.
I’m sorry if this is all a bit jumbled but I hope it giv
