How to crochet a set of cute Christmas bauble coasters

Christmas will be here before you know it, and if you want to get crafting for the big day there’s no time like the present! Grab your hooks and make a set of Kate Eastwood’s beautiful bauble coasters.

Whether you use them for a cozy evening hot cocoa, or decorate your table with them when the bubbles start flowing – this simple make can be hooked up in no time.

This fabulously festive pattern also includes an adorable little basket for the coasters to be stored in, making them easy to pack away at the end of the season, ready to be used again next year.

Bear in mind, this pattern is written in UK crochet terms.

Pro Tip

To work the edge of your coaster, use two strands of Goldfingering yarn to rejoin your yarn and work a round of DC, 48sts. At the end of the round SL ST to join and chain 1.

How to make the top of the bauble

1

step 1

Work 5 DC, CH 1 and turn.

2

step 2

Work a 3 further rows of 5 DC, remembering to chain 1 and turn at the end of each row.

3

Finish off and sew in the ends.

4

step 4

To complete your bauble coaster, add a small bow in a coordinating ribbon at the base of the bauble top and a strip of ribbon at the top of the bauble. Both of these can be stitched on with a needle and thread.

How to make the stripy bauble coaster

The stripy bauble is made to exactly the same pattern as the plain bauble, the only difference being that an alternating color is added at the end of each round. Again, two strands of yarn are used, one strand of Simply DK and one strand of Goldfingering in Gold.

For a tidy color, join when working the last stitch of each round and use your new color as the yarn over on this final stitch.
