How to crochet star stitch

Chain in multiples of 2 +1.

Start by picking up a loop on the second chain from your hook, so you have 2 chains on your hook.

Continue to pick up 1 loop in each of the next 4 chains. Once you’ve picked up all the loops you should have 6 loops on your crochet hook.

Yo, and pull through all 6 of your loops at the same time.

Ch one to form the eye of the star.

Crochet your next star stitch into the eye of the previous star stitch. Insert your hook into the eye of the last star stitch you just created and draw up a loop so you have two loops on your hook.

Insert your hook into the last loop of the previous star, yo and pull back through so you have 3 loops on your hook.

Pick up a loop in the last stitch of the previous star (4 loops on your hook). Pick up a loop on the next 2 chain stitches.

Yo and pull through all 6 loops. Ch 1, to form the eye of the star.

Repeat steps 6-9, all the way along until you reach the end of the row.

When you reach the end of row 1, crochet 1 hdc in the last chain. Ch 1. Turn work.
