Wrap up warm in a super snuggly hooded scarf

Keep the cold weather at bay with Kate Eastwood’s super snuggly hooded scarf! It couldn’t be simpler to make, and we guarantee it’ll earn its place as your favorite winter accessory the minute you put it on.

You’ll need:

This pattern is made up of two rectangles – one for the hood and one for the scarf, both are worked in HDC.

The finished measurements

From the top, back edge of the hood to the center back of the scarf it’s 34cm; and from the top, front edge of the hood to the back of the hood (to the pom pom) it’s 24cm. The scarf measures 120cmx10cm.

How to make the hood

1

Make a chain of 101 and starting in the second chain from the hook, work a row of HDC. 100 sts. At the end of the row chain 1 and turn.

2

Continue working rows of HDC until your rectangle measures approx 29cm high.

3

Finish off and sew in the ends.

How to make the scarf

How to join the hood and scarf together

1

Take the hood rectangle and with right sides together fold in half so that the two short edges meet. The fold will be the top of the hood. Pin the two edges together at the back of the hood and stitch in place.

step 1

2

Turn the hood right side out and fold back a 2-3cm turnover at the front edge of the hood. Hold the turnover in place by stitching a couple of stitches at each of the ends. Open out the hood as pictured, ready to be joined to the scarf.

step 2

3

Take the scarf and fold it in half to find the center back and mark this point with a pin.

4

With right sides facing together, lay the scarf on top of the hood, ensuring that the center back of the scarf is lined up with the center back seam of the hood. Pin in place.

step 4

How to make the pom poms

To complete your snuggly hooded scarf, add some pom poms! Make three pom poms – one for the top of the hood, and one for each end of the scarf. Each pom pom should measure 6cm in diameter once trimmed.

Pro Tip

When making your pom poms, leave a long tail on your yarn to attach the pom pom to the hook and scarf.

Et voila! A snuggly, cozy, extra cute pom pom hooded scarf ready for whatever weather the winter throws your way!
