Product Details
This is a square shaped blanket made up of sixteen log cabin squares. Each of the sixteen squares is knitted individually and then sewn together, before picking up stitches all around the outside to knit the blanket edging.
Casting on the red square in the centre requires using the backwards loop cast on method.
Instructions for this blanket are in written format (no charts). A colour photograph has been provided at each stage in the construction of the log cabin square to show how the square should look and a template has been provided too.
Log cabin squares are one of my favourite blocks to make with fabric and I have made quite a few quilts featuring them. As I enjoy sewing these squares so much, I started to think about knitting a Log Cabin Blanket just like the traditional quilted ones. For this blanket, I have gone with one of my favourite log cabins - one half of the square in light shades, the other in dark shades, and a red centre square to represent the heart of the home.
