    About

Wanted to knit this for ages and finally got around to it with some yarn from my stash. A great pattern, very well written and easy to follow. Knitted top down so great for trying on as you knit to ensure a good fit. Love the yarn, so soft and a delight to knit. Really pleased with this jumper, just know I’ll get loads of wear from this. Also learnt some new techniques, provisional cast on, invisible increases, picking up underarm stitches with no gaps and best of all - tubular cast off. Loved this cast off and plan to use it whenever I can in the future. It takes a lot longer than a usual cast off but well worth the effort.

    Needles & Hooks

    • Circular 4.00mm (US 6) 80cm
    • Circular 3.25mm (US 3) 80cm

    Accessories

    • Stitch Markers
    • Tapestry Needle

    Measurements

Notes: Made the third size to finish 38.5”. Love the fit, just perfect. Made 2 modifications. I thought that the neck would be too big after seeing other projects on ravelry so in order to leave my options open I used a provisional cast on so that I could decide what to do with the neck when the jumper was finished. I decided to knit a rib neckline to match the cuffs and hem rather than the garter stitch neck on the pattern. I also skipped the second set of short rows after dividing the body and sleeves as I didn’t want it baggy on the back.

It looks quite tricky to me. I find it quite difficult to get the tension even when stranding across the back. I’ve been trying to practise on my 2 Christmas jumper projects.

Have you tried going up a needle size for the colourwork? I get a bit of puckering on my colourwork and have to really concentrate on not stranding the yarn too tightly but usually after a good wet block it all evens out.

@Lynn A: Thanks for the tip. Blocking certainly helps. It makes such a professional finish to a garment. My booking mats were one of my best buys.

Love this pattern and your colour choices. Beautifully even knitting on the tricky yoke.

Looks great on you, lovely jumper. Very neatly knitted. Really like the tubular cast off, gives a really neat finish, no visable edge at all.

Thank you Jean. Think this will turn out to be one of my favourites, just not cold enough to wear at the moment. I love the tubular cast off and plan to use it as much as possible in the future. Not tried the tubular cast on yet!
