As Tierney has proved to be such a popular design, I wanted to see what it would be like re-knitted in another colour, and with some variations.
Instead of the button fastening I decided to try it using ties. This was very simple to achieve. On the last row of the pattern, where the neck is cast off on the reverse side of the garment, I used the needle to make a chain of 10sts at the beginning of the row, which I made into a loop, then at the end of the row, I didn’t break the yarn, but made another chain 40cm long.
I then made a separate chain of 40cm, which I attached to the garment. On the inside, I sewed a button to fasten with the chain loop.
I also knitted in a strand of fine mohair in a contrast colour on the first 32 rows of the sleeves.
