    About

I posted this before, when I was nearly finished but had to stop due to RSI in my thumb! Well, I'm glad to say that it's now finished (and pain eased) Thank you for all your words of encouragement and advice at the time.
It was a nice jumper to make and the cable makes it nice and stretchy. However, I was worried about the neck being too tight to get over an unwilling toddlers head so I added a button and loop just to make sure. Dont think it will ever be done up though! 😆
PS I bought this pattern from Lovecrafts but it's impossible to find it on the search to 'add pattern', so annoying and I've tried contacting them about it! The link should work but it just means that your project is not shown at the bottom of the pattern page. Its nice to see other peoples comments or colourways before you purchase.
    Come on Lovecrafts!

Lovely sweater with lovely soft colors. I also recently had difficulty linking a pattern to my project. It was Baby Poonam, available on this site. I agree with everyone else who is commenting. The Community Page with its links to projects, patterns and yarn is super helpful. If multiple knitters have done a pattern that I am considering, I look at them all, read all the comments, check out what yarn they used. And by the way, the link to yarn doesn't work great, either. If they stop carrying the color of yarn that you used, it just disappears from your project. I use my own projects as reference, and sometimes I go back to check to see what yarn I used, or how many balls, and it's gone! So now I always select "Enter your own yarn" even if it is a yarn that Lovecrafts sells. My career was as an application computer programmer, and they are just not doing an adequate amount of testing before updating the site. Now my career seems to be knitting endless piles of baby sweaters,

I Just went back to my project "Baby Poonam" to double check if the pattern search was now working. I typed in "Poonam" to search and there was one search result for "Rhubarb Balls Scarf." Perfect. By the way, since I'm already talking way too much, I just looked up "Poonam" and it's a Hindi girl's first name meaning "full moon." So pretty. Apologies to Jane for semi-hijacking her project.

Thanks for your comments, Christine, and I'm glad that others (especially those who have your experience) have the same issues as me! I didn't know that there was a problem with yarns disappearing! Now I'm going to have sleepless nights about losing all my project information which I've come to rely on!

@Christine L: Oh, I see you're a designer! Do you have any influence on the matter? :-)

@Jane M: Influence? No. I'm not earning any money directly for them - my patterns are free - I'm just a retired grandma doing this for fun. As far as yarns disappearing, just use the "Enter your own yarn" feature - that seems reliable.

This is gorgeous Jane. I love cabled knitwear. I couldn’t update a project as it said that the pattern was not there. It had been when I did the project originally!!

Very handsome sweater Jane. You must be very pleased you have recovered from your RSI and can carry on knitting ! Snap, from me too regarding linking patterns. Looks like the 'see what others have been making' circle on the homepage has also disappeared. I did tell them, & got a reply that its been forwarded to the technical team...

Hi. Lovely little jumper, and what a good idea to add a button fastening. I also raised the issue with adding Paintbox patterns, (and Debbie Bliss as well). They did get back to me and said some website changes had impacted on this feature, and it’s now been referred back to their development team. Sounds like it could be a while. I’ve also been putting a link to the pattern, and a photo of it.

Thank you for that, Fiona. Yes, I could add a photo of the pattern as well. Glad its not just me having an issue and that you got a reply!

Thank you Jacquie. I used the online chat about the issue but the reply email I got suggested it had been closed down without being actioned!! Annoying

@Jane M: I had that too. Also when I couldn’t purchase a pattern! Eventually it resolved itself.

Thank you Alison. I learnt how to tighten the loose stitch I always got, and I think it makes a difference?

What a beautiful jumper Jane I love the colours and cables so smart. So glad to hear your thumb is getting better, I think sometimes we get so caught up in our knitting we forget to have breaks.Take care.😁

Thank you Elaine. I learnt the technique to tighten the left hand stitch of the cable which I'll use from now on!
