    About

This is a test knit for a new pattern I have produced called "Poppy".... and also because I wanted a new purple top!
It's knitted on 8mm needles and is made from 2 strands on DK cotton yarn held together. It is very simple to make, with two main pieces joined at the shoulder and the sleeves knitted by picking up stitches along the armhole edge.

Lovely top great on own or as layer. It’s interesting that you used size 8mm needles Christine does that help it knit up quickly and pattern look more airy? I’ve not ventured over size 6mm but thinking this looks so good 😊πŸ₯°πŸ’•

Hi Maria, I use 8mm needles in quite a few of my designs as when I combine 2 strands of DK yarn it makes the finished garments less "dense", and as you say more sort when I'm knitting summer tops. It also helps make a garment lighter to wear than a chunkier yarn.
As for the choice of needles, I find that they give a bolder texture. Also they are easy to hold and quick to knit.

@Christine B: thank you for all those lovely reasons and tips on needles yarn and actual garment I’m sort of in middle of projects for family but want to venture down the adult garment route as well with aspirations of making something for myself possibly - so a pair of size 8s are on my knitting shopping list πŸ€ͺ
