For many years I knit fairly elaborate cat hats (over 2,000) for local pet shelters that they sold for $20 each. It was the perfect way for me to "give-back" while doing something I loved. To encourage others to do likewise, I designed a simple cat hat that can be knit in inexpensive yarns and donated to non-profit organizations in their own town.
This hat is a rectangle (knit on straight needles) in ribbing and stockinette, with duplicate stitch used for the features after the knitting is complete. The pattern has 6 sizes, from Baby to Large Adult. I used Red Heart Supersaver for the samples — my large stash of colors enabled me to knit almost every cat breed, and even lions and tigers!
This pattern is 13 pages long with very detailed instructions, and includes gift tags for you to print. Knit a cat hat for yourself, and bunch for your local shelter.
