I have started this. I see that some rows are knitted on the wrong side. No matter how many times I count my rows, these "knit on wrong side" rows, are not wrong side rows. It seems the rows are not numbered correctly. 6 rows of ribbing, then four rows of the pattern, that makes 10. But the next row of solid blue is numbered 10 on the instructions. What am I doing wrong?
At this point, I will just pick a row to knit on the wrong side, and follow through with that choice throughout the pattern.
I have found this too but I am on track. There are a few differences in the early part of the sweater but then it seems to work out. If I remember correctly it was near row 10 where I was off.
@Mary Q: Thank you so much for your reply! So nice to be able to talk to someone about my current project. I am reluctant to add more purling, but will do it if I have to.
@Bernardine B: Thank you! I had purple hanging off the opposite end when I needed it, so I took out my needle and put it back in the other way. This will save breaking the yarn, and get me back on track with the rows. Fingers crossed!
Not that I can remember. I think the colours in the chart didn't exactly match the photo on the front of the pattern but that wasn't a problem. My granddaughter is just five but is quite tall for her age so I knitted the 6/7 size and made it a bit longer. I thought it was going to be too narrow but it actually fits her really well. I think it did come up a bit smaller than the measurements given in the pattern - my tension is usually pretty much spot on but I think weaving the colours in on the back pulled it in a bit. The worst thing was tidying up at the end - I carried the wool up the side wherever I could but still finished up with more than three hundred ends to darn in! I think it took me three nights!
@Mary Q: lol! I forgot about the finishing! I will prepare myself now! I had a tough time feeding the directions for the sleeve increases but I finally figured it out. I was reading it but it wasn’t making sense but after studying the diagram I got it. Now if my yarn comes fast I can’t wait to start it!
@Bernardine B: yes it took a bit of concentration to keep the pattern right with the sleeve increases - I kept having to stop and count! Worked out alright in the end though.
@Bernardine B: I have just finished knitting this in 6-7 size. I waited ages for the champagne white but it was better than the Vanilla cream which didn't really show up the other colours. I found I didn't need 2 balls of banana cream, there was plenty left but I was nearly out of ballet pink. I wish I had done in in the round as there was an awful lot of joining in for single rows. Still looks good.
