    About

Several years ago I knitted this jumper in the original denim, shrinking yarn. It was a horrible job as I had to boil wash and tumble dry the pieces to shrink them to size.
I now find myself wanting to knit it again but this time I have to use a conventional yarn as original denim is discontinued. I tried it with some cotton dk but it came out very loose and that’s not what I wanted so I thought I’d try it with softyak dk, which I had stashed. It seems to be working fine. The knitted fabric isn’t loose and the measurements seem reasonable.
The problems are going to be with sizing.
Has anyone any experience of knitting a shrinking denim pattern with non shrinking yarn?

Never heard of such a thing! Seems like a lot of work for a lovely jumper.
Fingers crossed for you knitting this version 😊
