Stash Cardigan

I made this for me

    About

I have had this yarn (Sirdar Click) for a very long time intending to make a cable sweater with it but I find most hand knit sweaters too hot. Then I saw this pattern and thought it would be a challenge and an opportunity to use up a chunk of my stash. The cardigan is knitted top down all in one so no seams to do at the end. It was certainly a challenge as much of the terminology was strange but finally I have finished it. I still like it despite all the problems it gave me, but as I used a substitute yarn it’s a little smaller than I thought it would be. The length is fine, but the width is much narrower than intended as the pattern is very stretchy and works like a rib causing the stitches to pull together. Fortunately I chose to make it without buttons and buttonholes and have it open so it doesn’t really look too bad.

In truth the yarn was quite a disappointment as there were a lot of flaws and knots in it.

Thank you Maria. It was an awkward knit, but the yarn is quite lightweight so that wasn’t a major problem. My biggest issue was following the instructions in the pattern. It is from a German designer so is an English translation of the German I presume, which wasn’t too bad, but of course they have many different ways to assemble and shape a garment which can be quite different to ours and some of these were β€˜assumed’ and no pictures provided. All things considered I’m quite pleased with it. πŸ˜€

Great cardigan what an interesting sophisticated looking stitch πŸ₯°it looks tricky to knit all in one piece it's rewarding at end seamwise ;) but must have been quite heavy manoeuvring whole cardigan near completion ;)) I imagine this cardigan getting lots of wear enjoy 😍

Your cardigan is great, love the pattern details. So annoying when yarn has a lot of flaws in it

Thank you Cheryl. Yes it’s very annoying. Particularly when you’ve had it so long you cant even remember where you bought it, and if you could the shop has probably closed by now. πŸ˜‚

What a lovely cardi Helen so stylish. You will be able to wear that colour with so many things, and it will look lovely wearing it open with a pretty top under it.πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

Thanks so much for those lovely comments Sue. I was really tempted by the stitch design. It’s just a wrap around a (S1,p2,S1) so not difficult but a bit fiddly sometimes. Hopefully worth the hassle. The yarn seems comfortable to wear, so I hope it gets worn. As you say it could come in handy sooner than I’d thought! πŸ€”πŸ’•

Lovely pattern and cardigan. A good way to use the yarn. I have wool from the late at least 30 years old that I must knit.

Thank you Mary. I don’t like cardigans fastened up usually so it seemed a bit pointless. Also I thought the buttons would detract from the border pattern.
