Designing a garment that fits well, looks and feels great and is easy to make is the focus of my creative work. I want to design pieces that I want to include in my own wardrobe. To that end, in the weeks leading up to Spring I dream about warmer days, more daylight and the freedom from winter layers. I want to make (and wear) simple but flattering clothes.
I'm not as slim as I used to be, but I still want clothes that drape my figure rather than drown it. Simple tops that don't cling or hang tent like from my frame are the order of the day.
This top was born of that need, it is a simple shape, in a textured stitch for interest and works beautifully in a plain white as well as a tonal stripe.
I have used an affordable yarn, which brings the total price of making it at less than £20 even for the largest size. Even though it is sleeveless it covers the shoulders and top of your arms in a flattering way.
