Wavy cot blanket

I made this for Using up yarn.

    About

I love making baby blankets and making up my own combinations of stitches for them. I had previously done something similar in a smaller sized blanket, but decided to add some different stitches this time and make the blanket cot size rather than bassinet size. I used vintage Patons (Australia) 4 ply Feathersoft yarn. Suitable alternative yarn is suggested in the “Yarns” section for this project.

Hi Michelle - thank you for thinking of me. I have enjoyed my Lovecrafts catch-up and looking at all your wee toys! Yes, quite a bit of flooding up here at the moment, although thankfully we’re on a hill in Noosa, so most of the east coast of Oz would need to go under before we had issues at home. Several roads around town are flooded however, and one of the beach roads collapsed (missed houses luckily). How are things with you?

Thank you Michelle! I hope you to had a great Christmas and that you have a fantastic 2020. We have had more fires since we last spoke, but we are still safe and we had rain beginning Christmas Eve, and then all of Christmas Day - a wonderful present!

@Australian Jayne: I thought the second lot of fires were near you Jayne you must have been living on your nerves. Did you run round and dance when the rains come lol 😊at least it will settle the dust for you for a while. We are getting the smoke haze from the Adelaide fires and it's really eerie.Well nearly 2020 and a whole new year, fingers crossed it will be a better one.😊😊

@Michelle M: We have had three lots and the second lot was the one we told to evac - thankfully it never made it to us, and they were on to the third lot faster than you could imagine. So much practice I suspect, poor firefighters. Very cool and cloudy here today so perhaps even more rain.

I tried knitting in 8 ply the other day - kills my hands now, so I am now officially a 3-5 ply only knitter - I also love the feel of fine yarn. Thank you for liking my cot blankie!

@Australian Jayne: i love your blankie and i hope you do well in the competition. How funny is that i was talking to a friend this morning and she was saying how her wrists ache when she does alot of cable work and I have problems with my hands when I knit with the chunky teddy bear wool. The joys of getting older.lol.😉😁

@Michelle M: All my local shows are over for the year and I was too ill to enter. All good now though and even contemplating having a crack at one of the Royal shows next year. You know, I used to love knitting 12 ply Aran jumpers - I would have aching wrists just from casting on nowadays, but at least I am lucky that I can knit the fine yarns without pain - bah I hate getting older!!!!

@Australian Jayne: you know I have never been to a show where people enter things they have made, that would be fun to go to something like that.😊oh I was in my library and there were all these ladies sitting and knitting and yes chatting, when I can drive again I am going to join them.😊

So easy to design when there’s no shaping involved, ask me to design a jacket or jumper and it would be a mess!!!
