Crochet designers of the month: December
Published on 20 November 2018 By Merion 3 min readWith festivities coming up, you might finally have time to curl up and crochet without interruption! We've chosen three indie designers to introduce to you for December - Toni Lipsey, Kirsten Holloway and Anna Nikipirowicz.
Toni Lipsey - TL Yarn Crafts
Toni is a passionate maker, designer and teacher, and her days are full of connecting with crocheters in her community - online and in person. Her patterns are easy to follow and suitable for all abilities, we just love her cosy shawls and slouchies, and her bang-on-trend garments.
A cosy cardigan is your best friend. The Veronica cardi is perfect for all seasons, you can curl up with it in front of the fire, or pop it over a bikini on the beach. Oversized and in a chunky yarn, Veronica is a quick make, too.
Such a fabulous summer top! The Lemonade Top doubles up as a tunic, a top or a beach dress - you're going to need more than one!
A kimono shape is easy to create with crochet stitches, and Toni's Patchwork Kimono is a celebration of colour blocking and easy chic.
Kirsten Holloway
Inspired by country romance, vintage lace and all things feminine, Kirsten Holloway’s accessories are bursting with textured stitches to explore. From sweet wrist warmers to hats, scarves and cowls, Kirsten’s patterns are great for gifting.
Boot cuffs might not seem like a summer make - but we think these would look amazing peeping out of your cowboy boots with bare legs!
Bust out your chunky yarn stash and hook up a fabulous Bouquet Beanie Slouch! These would make gorgeous gifts, embellished with crocheted flowers or ribbons. Favourite gifts in no time at all.
Chokers are bang on trend - and this lace version wouldn't be out of place at a wedding! You can change up the colours for a boho vibe - this is festival magic at its best.
Anna Nikipirowicz
Anna grew up in a yarny household, learning to knit and crochet as a child. Her designs are often inspired by crochet stitches and her love of nature, flowers and foliage. She has worked with many favourite yarn brands including Rowan, MillaMia and West Yorkshire Spinners, as well as publishing two books.
String up the bunting! There doesn't have to be a celebration to string up this beautiful lace bunting - leave it up all year round! Ring the changes and mix up the colours, or keep it clean and bright white.
Crochet shawls are quick to make and can be swirled around your shoulders in all weathers - they'll keep you warm, or they'll shield you from the sun's rays. Anna's Nerida shawl has a pretty scalloped edging and you can use your favourite 4ply/fingering weight yarn.
Who says you can't crochet socks? Anna's basic crochet socks are quick to make - these are constructed from the toe up, and the sweet contrast edging is optional.
