    About

I really liked this zipper pattern as I thought my grandson would like to have pockets in his next ‘grandma make’. Mostly it was a very straightforward knit until I got to the shoulders and collar. Unusually for Debbie Bliss patterns I found the instructions a little inadequate. Part of the trouble was of my own making as I prefer the wrap and turn shoulder shaping method rather than casting off as this sits better with a 3 needle bind off. But I got into real trouble with the collar as mine seemed to end up far too high and I knew my grandson wouldn’t like it. I had to frog it 3 times before I was finally happy with it and the finishing off of the collar and zip really don’t bear close inspection! It also still has a few too many stitches around the curves of the neck.

Love the cardigan. It looks great. How did you put in the zipper? By hand or with sewing machine.

Thanks for you kind comment JaRoo. I put the zipper in by hand. It’s a bit untidy on the wrong side and was quite a tedious job but it sits well from the front.

Lovely cardigan, the green trim and pockets look great. I think your grandson will want to keep it on all the time.

Thanks for a great comment Mary. You obviously don’t know my grandson. He doesn’t keep anything on for long 🤣

Lovely cardigan for your grandson, Helen! 💕 What a shame you had so much hassle with the pattern, it looks wonderful. You're right he will love the pockets 😊
