    About

I started this cushion cover in February and have only just finished it (in August) as I had to stop knitting due to breaking my wrist and shoulder within a few months of each other. Now diagnosed with osteoporosis but on treatment now. So glad to be back knitting and grateful for the support on here which has kept me going! I love the cables on this cushion which are surprisingly simple but very effective.

Love all your cushions Dianne. I have the owl one on my list. Might have to add this latest one too. I also have osteoporosis which has made me quite cautious about some things. It was a shame you had to suffer the breakages before you found out. I think all women of a certain age should be invited for a scan and not left to find out the hard way. At least knitting is a safe enough hobby ( I think) 🤔

Thanks Helen, I love all your knitting! The cushions are a wee change for me, you’ll enjoy the owl one if you try it. I agree with you about scans, I thought at 59 I was too young to have osteoporosis, I found out the hard way!

Lovely to see you are knitting again. I didn't know you had broken your shoulder as well as your wrist! Hopefully, with your treatment things will get better for you. The cushion is lovely, keep them coming and take care! x

Thanks Denise, I couldn’t believe it myself but at least it’s taught me to be more careful now. Have you any projects on the go just now?

@Dianne S: I am finishing the doll I was making for my friend's birthday, which is long gone! I have not been able to sew or knit for a couple of months as I had no enthusiasm for it. I think I was associating it with lockdown and I couldn't sit sewing or knitting I just felt like I had to be outside doing something else. Now that lockdown has ended I have been catching up with firends and family and ejoying my new found freedom. However, as I say I am finishing a rag doll and am also making another for the Macmillan Coffee morning which my sister runs every year. I have struggled with the doll for my friend as I have already made two the same and It bores me silly. I like everyone to be different, it's the only way I can stay interested! I have a new pattern for a doll's dress which I am making for the Macmillan doll and I am enjoying making it. I also went to a big haberdashery store last week and I was in heaven. I had only been able to order material on line during lockdo

@Denise C: I worried too if I’d get back into knitting the way I did before and it’s not there yet. It’s been a strange year! I agree it’s nice to be outside and seeing people finally and the weathers been so nice this summer. Your dolls are just beautiful Denise, so professional! Your friend will love hers when you finish it. 😄

@Dianne S: I'm sure you will get back into the swing of things especially when the summer is over and the nights start drawing in. That's when I enjoy knitting the most. It has been a strange time and it has affected people in many ways. I think I am calming down now and starting to enjoy my sewing again. I am also keen to get back to my knitting but I have to get the dolls finished first.

Wonderful to see your knitting on here again, Dianne! 😊 You've had a tough time. Love your cushion, your knitting is as beautiful as ever 😍. Glad you have treatment sorted for your osteoporosis. My last dexa scan showed bone density improvement after five years of injections, so well worth it! 💕
