Product Details

Another name for this style shawl is a SONTAG. I have had several people talk about a shawl of this construction. Blocked: Small – 80.5” across top by 24” at back point Medium – 86” across top by 26” at back point Large – 92” across top by 28” at back point X-Large – 97” across top by 30” at back point It is a great no-brainer knit. I know that the garter ridges do not go the same way as the one in the movie, but that doesn’t bother me. I will use this one when I go for my spinning demonstrations and have to dress up. I LOVE it! It just hugs your body so warmly! Very Comfortable! Instructions now include a a two colored Tess. For Solid OnlyWorsted weight wool yarn, approximately 615(700-785-880) yards

For Two-Color version OnlyWorsted weight yarn, approximately Solid (Main Color-MC) 310(350-395-445) yards Self-striping (Contrasting Color-CC) like Noro, Plymouth Gina, Jojoland Rhythm, Cascade 220 Wave or Melilla, Katia Azteca, Sidar Jewlspun 305(345-390-435) yards

I love the shawl, but some of the directions were confusing, IE: following the pattern by moving markers at rows end, (I kept a written list of hash marks to track the 4 row pattern) directions for I-cord bindoff was very confusing, so I searched YouTube and found another technique. It works up quickly - garter stitch w/ SSK at center and at edges of the 4 row repeat.

The pattern is easy to follow and very pretty. I love my shawl.

I knitted this with a multi coloured wool it looks great, and I love the block edging! New to me but easy enough when I got the hang of it.To keep track of the center I used a different colour wool with a crotched hook to keep track of my central line.
