Marduta

I designed and knitted this shawl just for fun of creating a shawl that could look good both on the right and wrong sides. The pattern alternates knit and purl, which gives a different aspect on the wrong side and there are some who like the ‘reverse’ even more than the ‘front’.

It is a sister shawl to Darmuta, which is also a two-sided rectangular shawl but features a leaves pattern.

The shawl is easy to knit if you know some basic lace stitches – increasing, decreasing and yarnovers. It is also fun to knit, not too complicated and yet not boring either.

The pattern could be customized by using different yarns, needle sizes, or adding repeats to the pattern.

The sample is shown in Garnstudio Drops BabyAlpaca Silk. A suggested substitute yarn is shown below but you can choose any natural fibers yarn you like :)
