Product Details
When you look straight at the knitting you see only stripes; when you look from the side you see an illusion of Vincent Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat. The portrait was painted in 1887 and is in the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam.
The finished size of the illusion is approximately 68 cm x 80 cm (27” x 32”), when using DK yarn. Any thickness of yarn can be used but this could change the overall size of the panel.
I used 420 metres (460 yards) DK in each of two colours.
I chose Stylecraft Special DK in Denim and Parchment because these seemed appropriate from the original painting. I would recommend using slightly more contrasting colours if you want the illusion to be more defined.
The pattern contains several versions of the chart including one for mobile devices where you can see 20 ridges at a time and always see the numbers underneath.
