Our favourite skirt sewing patterns for autumn and winter
Published on October 3, 2023 By Sarah J 2 min readIn this joyful season of twinkling lights, cosy nights and that all-round-hygge-feeling, there’s no better time to update your hand-sewn wardrobe with the season’s must-have styles. While skirts are usually worn in the warmer months, don’t overlook the humble skirt as a staple piece this season! Minis to maxis, we’ve rounded up our favourite skirt sewing patterns for this winter.
Pleated skirts
For a fun, preppy look, pleated skirts are back! With a tie waist, you can add a D-ring detail to really show off your sewing skills. With cosy woolly socks and combat boots, or styled with a shirt and sweater vest, this festive ‘fit is sure to be a hit.
Tiered skirts
We’re loving these tiered skirts! Not just for spring and summer but, with tights and a turtleneck, you’ll be looking effortlessly sophisticated all year round. Hot off the high street, tiered skirts are a fabulous way to play around with patterned fabrics. Winter florals, or paisley prints. Whatever your style, this works for them all!
Asymmetrical skirts
We’re going to throw a bit of a curve ball in here with this fantastic asymmetrical skirt pattern. Asymmetrical skirts are a favourite this season as an elegant, standout statement piece.
A-line skirt
Another wardrobe essential to add to this season’s capsule wardrobe. For a chic combo to wear as we transition through autumn, cotton fabrics are a great choice. Or, for something more warming and comfortable, Jersey is a fantastic fabric to use!
