40 Stitch Worsted Basketweave Socks

I made these simple and quick socks for my son, whose feet and ankles are about the same size as mine. They zip along quickly as only 40 stitches are used for the smaller size. I used worsted weight stash yarn and ran out before reaching the toes, so that’s why the toes in the picture are of a different color and the pattern stops at the color switch. You may certainly choose to knit the entire sock in one yarn, and continue the basketweave pattern until the toe decreases begin (that’s the way I’ve written it)! These socks are knit from the cuff down, and I used a V-heel and a wedge shaped toe. Instructions are given for knitting on dpns, though you may choose to use two circular needles or the magic loop technique.
