Fingerless mitts in two sizes (adult M and L), with decorative braid on back of hand, and warm, stretchy ribbing on the palm. Braid is knitted as part of the mitt. Body of mitt is worked flat, thumb is worked in the round.
The woven braid reminds me of the thick rope on the deck of the ship Princess of Acadia, on which I have traveled many times from St. John, New Brunswick to Digby, Nova Scotia. Acadia Cap available as a separate pattern.
Sizes: Adult M and L: mitt measured flat and unstretched: width, 3.5 (4)”, length: 9 (10.5)”
Materials:
Needles: Sz. 6 dp needles set of 4; cable needle
(Mitts can be made on straight needles if you’d like, but you’ll need the dp needles to make the thumb).
Yarn: Worsted weight; Main color (MC) 90 (109) yds and Contrast color (CC) 50 (61) yds, 6” of waste yarn
Other: 2 Stitch markers, Yarn needle.
