Product Details
African Queen is a crescent shaped shawl knitted top-down in a fine bamboo lace.
The flower pattern of the border resembles my favourite flower King Protea which I first discovered when traveling in South Africa many years ago. To me it is a queen of flowers of the southern hemisphere, hence the name of the shawl.
The crescent shape is achieved by a series of short rows and followed by wide lace border.
The size is pretty generous. This size uses less then a cone of the Xie bamboo lace.
I have incorporated a few beads (size 6) which are added to the cast off row using a fine crochet hook (0.9mm). For those who like more sparkle there are plenty of opportunities to add more beads to the lace border!
The pattern is written and the border is also charted. The pattern is for knitters who have some experience with lace knitting
African Queen is very delicate and feminine. It will certainly add a touch of glamour to that special outfit!
