Product Details
Originally published in the Winter 2021 issue of Spin Off Magazine alongside the article “Uncoiling the Spiral of Gimp Yarns,” this pattern is suitable for advanced beginners- just slightly more complicated that a basic mitten pattern. Shown above paired with Rainbow Fish Infinity Scarf, originally published in the Fall ’19 issue of Spin Off magazine.
Keep winter winds at bay with these cleverly constructed, handspun alpaca mittens. The interlocking nature of the gimp yarn’s bumps made for a sturdy, less drafty fabric. The farrow-rib stitch pattern adds some elasticity to the project. This easy textured stitch provided some cushiness and a bit of spring to this otherwise inelastic fiber (100% alpaca). The pattern would also work well with commercial alpaca and/or wool yarn.
